The Queen’s Wake by James Hogg
Another in our series where members showcase exceptional volumes from our collections. There are many fascinating volumes on the shelves of Bromley House, but one in particular has caught my attention in the Neville Hoskins Room. It is a first edition (1813) of James Hogg’s The Queen’s Wake, and is one of the books listed in the original catalogue of the library. Its subsequent publishing history is rather interesting and makes our edition of the poem particularly important.
