You will find the latest top titles in fiction and non-fiction, travel books, biographies, literature and poetry, a children’s library, and local history collections - including manuscripts.
“I have loved libraries all my life. Just love books. The first time I entered Bromley, well that was it.”
Around a hundred new titles arrive at Bromley House Library every month for members to borrow – a wide range of fiction to tempt all literary tastes; non-fiction titles about science, art, politics, history, society, culture, the natural world, biographies and more, and regular new collections of poetry. They join our fifty thousand-strong collection of books gathered over the last 200 years, including mediaevel manuscripts, a unique herbarium, a significant local history section, travel books to quench – or inspire – wanderlust and roomfuls of classic or quirky or contemporary novels and non-fiction.
Fans of contemporary thrillers are as welcome as literary academics; the general reader will sit beside a poet or novelist in the neighbouring chair. We hold unique special collections and the latest best-selling crime fiction and our members reflect the wide and eclectic range of books on offer.
We subscribe to daily and weekend newspapers, literary societies and a plethora of journals and magazines – available in print for our members to enjoy. Click on the link below to explore the range we buy.

We also look after several special collections – from the personal library of Nottingham author Alan Sillitoe to the library of bibliophile James Ward and many more.
